The Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has selected seven commercial companies to import 90,000 metric tons of wheat from India for trade purposes.
Out of 59 applicants, these seven companies were chosen to bring in wheat under India’s quota system, which allows Nepal to import a total of 200,000 metric tons.
The selected companies are:
- Bishal Trade Link (Kathmandu)
- Shyambaba Enterprises (Kuleshwor)
- Gunjeshwari Trade Link Pvt Ltd
- Josh Nepal Traders (Birgunj)
- Mansa International (Kailali)
- Durga Brothers Concern (Dillibazar, Kathmandu)
- Gyan Enterprises (Dillibazar, Kathmandu)
Each company will be allowed to import up to 3,000 metric tons of wheat. The import process must be completed within three months from the date they receive the quota from India’s National Cooperative Exports Limited. In case of any inability to import, companies must notify the department within 15 days of receiving authorization.
This initiative aims to ensure a stable wheat supply in Nepal, supporting domestic trade and food security.
