Kathmandu, January 3: A number of business and social institutions have been dilly-dallying from paying the property taxes to the Kathmandu Metropolitan Office, reports annapurnapost.com.
Such business institutions consist of shopping complexes, housing companies and hotels are such business institutions.
Bhatvateni Super Market, CTC Mall, Civil Mall, Chabahil Plaza, Buddhabari Complex and Ambe Complex are among the major shopping complexes delaying to pay their property taxes.
Similarly, Manmohan Memorial College and Teaching Hospital, Sahid Memorial Hospital, Rajdhani Hospital, National Hospital, Kantipur Dental Hospital, etc are among the social institutions delaying to pay their property taxes. Kathmandu Jesis, Rotary Club are other such institutions.
The Revenue Division at the Kathmandu Metropolitan Office says that all organizations have not been responding to its repeated formal calls to fulfill their financial obligations. “We have decided to request them one/two more times to pay property taxes. If they continue to ignore us, we will be forced to take necessary legal actions against them,” the report quoted the sources of the KMC as saying.
The total amount of property taxes to be paid by these businesses and social institutions is estimated to be more than Rs 50 million.
