According to the details of import and export recently published by the Department of Customs, it seems that the country imported a large amount of goods manufactured using simple technology and raw materials, including toothpicks and nut bolts. The statistics released by the department recently, shows that in the last fiscal year, toothpicks worth more than Rs 10 million were imported. It is stated that toothpicks worth Rs 11.3 million were imported last year. Such toothpicks made of bamboo and wood are mainly imported from China. Similarly, hangers for hanging clothes worth more than Rs 10 million have also been imported, while hangers worth Rs 25.49 million have been exported in the last year.

Import of needles and safety pins worth Rs 20 million

According to the Department of Customs, more than Rs 20 million was spent on the import of sewing needles and safety pins last year. Last year, safety pins worth Rs 17.3 million and needles worth Rs 6.3 million were imported, from which the government has collected revenue equal to Rs 6.7 million.

Import of nut bolts and screws worth more than Rs 10 million

Millions of rupees are flowing out of the country due to the import of nuts and bolts and screws used in various devices and vehicles. According to the data released by the department, iron and steel nuts worth more than Rs 10 million were imported last year. In the review year, screws and bolts worth more than Rs 1.26 billion and nuts worth more than Rs 149.4 million were imported. Furthermore, iron and steel nails worth Rs 158.5 million were imported last year.
