The Public Procurement Monitoring Office took action against the companies after the Road Division Office in Jumla forwarded reports of contract violations to its central office in Kathmandu.

According to Road Division Office Chief Shravan Kumar Mahatara, Binamra Construction Service of Surkhet has been blacklisted for three years. Dhruba Building Service of Birendranagar has been suspended from procurement activities for two years, while Abinash Construction Service of Chhayanath, Mugu has been blacklisted for one year.

Similarly, Shankar Mali Construction Service of Kathmandu and Man Shahi Construction Service of Kalikot have been blacklisted for three years each, while Kashyap Contractors Service of Kathmandu has been blacklisted for two years.

The action was taken under Clause 63 of the Public Procurement Act, 2063, following the companies’ failure to comply with their contractual obligations. During the period of blacklisting, the companies will be barred from participating in public procurement activities.

Meanwhile, the number of industries being terminated has also been increasing. In fiscal year 2082/83, 180 industries were terminated, while 188 were registered and 334 renewed, according to the Industry and Consumer Protection Office.

Office Chief Tanka Prasad Neupane said 61 firms were registered, 58 renewed and 52 cancelled under the commerce sector during the fiscal year. The office collected nearly Rs 1.6 million in revenue during the period.

Neupane said new industry registrations have been declining for the past four years, while the number of terminated industries has been increasing. Newly registered firms include businesses in production, agriculture and forestry, services, tourism, construction and information technology.
