The test of the Super Kabeli ‘A’ Hydroelectric Project, located in Sirijunga Rural Municipality of Taplejung, has been successfully completed. The project, situated on the Kabeli River, has a generation capacity of 13.5 megawatts.
Megh Nath Dhungana, the project’s public relations officer, stated that testing began last Sunday. Following the successful results, technicians from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) are conducting final inspections, with plans to link the generated electricity to the national grid by Saturday.
According to NEA technicians, the electricity will be connected to the national transmission line via the Amarapur substation (132 kV capacity) in Panchthar.
Additionally, the transmission line, spanning approximately 31 kilometers from the powerhouse at Rato Khola in Yamphudin (Sirijunga-8) to the Amarapur substation, has also passed its testing phase. The Super Kabeli ‘A’ Hydroelectric Project was developed by Snow Rivers Limited.
The project, which commenced in mid-December 2022, was completed in a relatively short period at a cost of around Rs 2.63 billion. It is expected to make a notable contribution to the regional energy supply.
In the same area, Kabeli Hydropower Company Limited is also working on another hydropower project with a capacity of 21.13 megawatts, which will further enhance both local and national energy production.
