The work of digging a 560-meter-long section of the tunnel toward the powerhouse of Tanahun Hydropower Project has been completed. A total of 1,480 meters long tunnel has to be dug.

Santosh Tiwari, representative of the environment branch of the project, said that 475 workers have been mobilized for the tunnel construction work under the power house. The work of digging the tunnel will be started soon from the dam site as well. He said, “The project has advanced the construction work around the clock.” Under package two, all the works of the tunnel leading to the power plant of 1, 2 and 3 have been completed.

The construction work of the 140 MW project under construction in Rishing Rural Municipality-1, Jhaputar, has been accelerated. Bhojraj Pokhrel, assistant director of the project, said that the slope of the water outlet tunnel is being worked on. Song Da-Kalika JV got the contract for the said package. Similarly, the digging of the power house under package two has also been completed.

Under package two of the project, Sino Hydropower Limited has been given the responsibility of tunneling, construction of power plant and supply, installation and operation of hydro-mechanical and electromechanical equipment. According to the project, Sino Hydropower Limited has completed the tunnel excavation of the underground powerhouse with a length of 89 meters, width of 22 meters and height of 51 meters. The tunneling work of the power plant started in August 2020.
