Illam, June 22 : Executive Director of the National Tea and Coffee Development Board, Dr Bishnu Prasad Bhattarai, has said that the tea farmers should get the minimum fixed price (MFP) for the green tea leaves as designated by the concerned authorities.
He said this referring to the agitations being launched by such farmers demanding the tea industries pay them more while purchasing these leaves.
According to Bhattarai, the board is ready to resolve the issue by holding dialogue with the industries.
The agitating farmers have already submitted a six-point memorandum to the Surodaya Municipality demanding the assurance of the minimum fixed price as per the the Quality Tea Production Guideline Implementation Work Procedure, 2075 BS and distribution of relief to the tea farmers affected by the COVID-19 crisis, among others.
