Kathmandu, June 21: The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) is geared up to resuming the operation for 21-hours-a-day from July.
The rehabilitation work of the TIA runway will be finished before the earlier set deadline of June 30, thus enabling the airport to resume its regular service. It is presently being closed for 10 hours every day from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am for runway rehabilitation work.
After completing the rehabilitation task, being undertaken by the China National Aero-technology International Engineering Corporation, TIA will begin the construction of taxiway and parking bays from September 1.
The two new parking bays constructed on the eastern side of TIA have already been inaugurated on June 2. These parking bays, to be constructed on the eastern side of the TIA, will have the capacity to accommodate two wide-body aircraft and one ATR-72 plane.
