Kathmandu, May 27 : The government is executing the project of concerting the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) into a boutique airport by the month of October.
According to media reports, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is collaborating with the Visit Nepal Year 2020 committee to accomplish this project. The ministry is said to have even already allocated Rs 240 million to transform the TIA into a boutique hotel.
As per the plan, after awarding the tenders for the said task within a month, the airport will be registered as such hotel in the next six months.All the preliminary works are accomplished and the tenders particularly for installation of canopy, building a garden and a children’s playground in the airport premises have already been called.
The project aims to make the TIA aesthetically appealing and functionally brilliant, wherein international travelers can feel the culture of Nepal. Meanwhile, it is learnt the airport management is set to complete the runway upgradation works by the set deadline of June 30.
