Kathmandu, August 22: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Gyawali, has said that preparation was underway to develop Tinkar check-point linking Darchula and Tibet as an international transit route.

Responding to a query raised by Ataharkamal Musalman on the behalf of lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu in a question-answer program related to the ministry in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Foreign Minister Gyawali said that the government has put cross-border connectivity at top priority. He shared that the border linking north-south is to be expanded. He recalled that transport protocol has already been signed with China, adding that other border points linking with Tibet are being opened gradually.

Saying the country could not move ahead from remittance, the Foreign Minister said that the environment has been built to create employment inside the country by bringing Prime Minister Employment program to stop people going for overseas employment.

He expressed the commitment that the government would take initiative to provide service and facility to Nepalese retired from the Indian army equal to the Indian army. Lawmakers– Prem Suwal, Khagaraj Adhikari, Uma Regmi, and Pushpa Bhusal, among others had raised questions.
