Kathmandu, January 23 : A ‘tourist police post’ has been set up at Bouddha area which is considered to be the main touristic destination of the Kathmandu Valley.
The tourist police has brought into operation the post in collaboration with Bouddha Area Development Committee on Monday.
A squad of seven police personnel headed by Sub Inspector has been deputed to look after the post’s works.
According to Tourist Police Unit Bhrikutimandap Chief Amrit Bahadur Basnet, the police post was established as part of a plan to make tourist police available at all tourism sites of the Valley.
Earlier, the tourist police posts have been set up at Thamel, Bhaktapur, Nagarkot, Patan, Basantapur, Pashupati, Soyambhu and Airport area.
The tourist police posts will have greater importance to make government’s plan of bringing in 2 million tourists in 2020 a success, shared the Tourist Police Unit, Bhrikutimandap.
Currently, more than 200 tourist police have been providing services to tourists in the country. RSS
