The transmission line has already made a headway to be extended from Kailali to areas beyond Birendranagar, the provincial capital of Karnali Province.

Places such as Panchapuri municipality, Barahataal rural municipality and Chaukune rural municipality are still not connected by the national transmission line.

Locals here have been availing electricity from local micro hydropower projects. The sub-station installed to connect the district with national transmission line remains to be materialized owing to various reasons one among them is taking the power line through the community forest.

Works related to extension of transmission was stopped for a while as trees in the community forest ought to be cut down during extension. Now, the transmission line related project will be taken forward very soon, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Karnali Provincial Office.

Provincial Office chief Shambhu Kusiyat Yadav shared that they have already obtained permission for taking forward the stagnant project. The electricity brought from Kohalpur could not support the load of other districts including Surkhet.

Hence, electricity will be extended to places in Jajarkot from Kailali. The extension line will be brought to Birendranagar from Chisapani-Solta-Babiyachaur-Baddichaur-Bangesimal route.
