Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Deepak Khadka announced that repairs to the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, which suffered partial damage from recent floods and landslides, will begin promptly.
A team including Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation Suresh Acharya, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising, and Chief District Officer of Dolakha Tubraj Pokharel conducted an onsite inspection of the project’s damaged infrastructure.
Following the assessment, Minister Khadka emphasized the significant losses incurred by the State and reaffirmed the commitment to restore the project’s operations swiftly. He indicated that the government will provide all necessary support to expedite electricity generation.
Mohan Prasad Gautam, the project’s chief executive officer, stated that efforts are underway to resume power generation within the next three weeks.
