Kathmandu, September 16 : Various road construction projects funded by foreign donors have been halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent prohibition orders.
Such projects include Butwal-Pokhara road, Nagdhunga-Muglin road, and Galchhi-Trishuli-Mailung-Syabrubensi road, among others. Likewise, the second phase of the Koteshwor-Kalanki road expansion project along with the construction of flyover bridges at Jadibuti and New Baneshwor funded is also affected.
“The works of all the projects have been discontinued due to the pandemic. And, there is no possibility of their resumption until the current abnormal situation turns normal” said Arjun Jung Thapa, chief of the assistance coordination division of the Department of Roads.
