Muglin, November 13: Ichhakamana rural municipality in the Chitwan district has constructed a vegetable collection center to facilitate the collection and sale of farmers’ production. Rural municipality chair Geeta Kumari Gurung said the collection center was built at the investment of Rs 7.8 million.

She further shared the initiative was taken to provide appropriate price of the production to the farmers and manage the flow of buyers in a systematic manner. The center would be run by forming a committee from among the farmers. Farmers involved in veggie production have been facing trouble in absence of vegetable collection center.

They said that the center would make them easy to bring their vegetable production to the market and generate income out of it. Chair Gurung further said that Ichhakamana rural municipality has laid emphasis on the production of vegetable and fruits. She explained that the rural municipality has come up with ‘one ward, one production’ programme wherein farmers would get fifty percent subsidy.

“The programme was designed to motivate farmers to bring into use the barren land”, she added. Noting that 75 percent grant would be provided if the farmers cultivated over 100 saplings of fruits, she said the irrigation system would also be placed for fertile land. She also shared that the farmers involved in commercial vegetable production were provided with training and seeds support. RSS
