Baitadi, January 14 : No local governments in Baitadi have constructed dumping sites for proper solid waste management.
Baitadi district has total 10 local governments, including four municipalities and six rural municipalities.
Health workers said that the lack of systematic waste management would cause various types of health complications to the public.
Even the district’s oldest municipality, Dasharathchand, also lacks dumping site for proper management of solid waste. The municipality which was established in 2054 BS has been managing waste on an ad hoc basis.
The construction of dumping site has been marred for no availability of proper land, the municipality sources said.
Similar is the story with Patan municipality, Melauli municipality, Prachaundi municipality and other rural municipalities of the district in regard to solid waste management.
