In this connection, the German Development Bank (KFW) has assured to provide financial and technical assistance worth amounting to Rs 1 billion to the Ministry of Health and Population.

To this effect, a preliminary memorandum of understanding was signed by the ministry representative, Chandragiri Municipality Mayor Ghanashyam Giri and KFW officials.

According to the MOU, the well-equipped hospital construction will be completed in four years. In coordination and collaboration with the municipality, the ministry and KFW have intensified the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for the hospital construction.

Mayor Giri said, “Building construction will gain momentum after DPR preparation”. He further pledged to provide necessary support and coordination for the timely construction of the hospital.

“We will not compromise to maintain higher standards of the hospital in terms of human resource, equipment and infrastructure. The municipality is committed to providing easy and accessible health services to the municipal residents”, he added.

The hospital will be operated under the Thapathali-based Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital. It may be noted that a 15-bed hospital has already been operated in Chandragiri-4, Thankot since 11 May 2019.

The hospital has been providing lab and emergency services along with the operation of a birthing center. Hospital’s Medical Officer Dr Hemnath Sharma shared that lately, the hospital has been providing specialized cardiac and family planning services as well as free health services to senior citizens, disadvantaged and people with disability.

He had received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a letter of appreciation from the municipality for his best performance in delivering health services during COVID time.
