Kathmandu, April 19 : Nepal has witnessed the highest single-day hike in the number of COVID-19 cases on Tuesday (August 18) at 1,016, thus taking the total national tally to 28,257. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, these new cases were detected in the 13,469 PCR test conducted in 40 labs across the country.
Altogether 85 persons have also been discharged from the hospital yesterday upon their full recovery. With this, the total number of recoveries have reaches 17,580. The number of infected persons in the country currently stands at 10,563.
Similarly, PCR test has been conducted on 542,866 suspected ones. A total of 13,936 persons have been quarantined in various quarantine facilities across the country. Likewise, seven people contracting the deadly infection have succumbed to it yesterday, taking the total number of fatalities to 114. Those dying of the coronavirus were from Kavrepalanchowk, Nawalparasi, Kaski, Morang, Dhanusha and Banke district, the Ministry said.
