Baglung, January 17: Chief Minister of Gandaki State Prithvi Subba Gurung has vowed to make his State the best one in the coming five years, arguing that tourism and energy would be tapped for the development and prosperity. Addressing the Jaimini Fair organized on the occasion of Maghe Sakranti in Baglung yesterday, Gurung divulged that the state government was planning to create legal infrastructure, human resources and other related things for achieving this mission.

Poverty in Gandaki State would be halved in five years and would be reduced to zero within 11 years, he added. Gurung shared that a total of 83 households in Gandaki State were below the poverty line. “The life expectancy in the State would be 80 years in five years from existing 75 years,” he shared the plan of the State. Similarly, he said the federal government had allocated Rs 800 million for drinking water supplies in the State and the State government had also mobilized the equal amount of money.

According to him, all houses in the State would be provided with power supplies within a year that the State has planned to generate 3,000 MW power in five years. Chief Minister Gurung further said electric vehicles would be brought into use in Pokhara city by forging cooperation with the private sector. RSS
