The state-owned telecommunications company increased its profit by Rs 2.19 billion during the review period. The significant improvement came despite modest revenue growth, with lower operating expenses, reduced interest-related costs and improved operational performance contributing to the higher profit. NT’s earnings per share also increased to Rs 49.25.

NT’s operating income rose 3.12 percent to Rs 34.95 billion in FY 2025/26 from Rs 33.89 billion a year earlier. However, income from interest-bearing investments declined by Rs 861.9 million, or 22.88 percent, as bank interest rates fell.

Revenue from GSM services remained a major contributor, increasing by Rs 645.4 million, or 2.28 percent, during the year.

NT said it is continuing to expand its telecommunications network and improve service quality in response to rising mobile usage and customer demand. The company has also maintained its network expansion in remote and geographically difficult areas, despite relatively low commercial returns.

According to NT, providing services in remote areas requires higher investment and operating costs while generating comparatively lower returns. Nevertheless, the company considers nationwide connectivity an important part of its responsibility as Nepal’s key telecommunications infrastructure provider.
