Kathmandu, August 16, 2026: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) is continuing the direct sale of LPG cylinders today, Sunday, at seven designated locations across the Kathmandu Valley as consumers face difficulties obtaining cooking gas amid a supply crunch.
The NOC has expanded its emergency distribution arrangement from five locations on Saturday to seven locations today. Consumers can purchase LPG cylinders from the following points:
- NOC premises, Teku
- Animal Services Branch, Chapali
- Radha Swami Satsang premises, Kirtipur
- Tarakeshwar Municipality premises
- New Bazaar Judo Hall premises
- Chandragiri Municipality office
- National Tuberculosis Centre, Thimi
The cylinders are being sold from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Consumers are required to present either their citizenship certificate or National Identity Card when purchasing a cylinder.
The direct distribution is primarily aimed at households facing an immediate shortage. NOC has appealed to consumers who are not urgently in need of LPG to avoid purchasing from the designated outlets so that available cylinders can be prioritized for households experiencing shortages.
NOC maintains that LPG imports are continuing regularly and that bottling companies are supplying cylinders through authorized dealers. However, persistent complaints from consumers about difficulties in obtaining LPG have prompted the state-owned corporation to intervene through direct sales.
The emergency distribution is intended as a short-term measure to ease the current shortage and support consumers until regular market supplies normalize.
