KATHMANDU, April 2: President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to inaugurate formally the Melamchi Drinking Water Project today. President Bhandari will release water from a newly installed tap at Bhrikuti Mandap at 2 pm.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will also take part in the official program.
Melamchi water was started to be distributed in Kathmandu Valley as a trial from March 28. The arrangement has been made for a 24-hour water supply to the public tap installed at Bhrikuti Mandap.
Currently, Melamchi water is being distributed from Mahankal, Minbhawan, Khumaltar water tanks, and Balaju pond in the capital.
