British envoy to Nepal Nicola Pollitt has paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.
During the meeting held at the Ministry, bilateral interests, as well as the impact of climate change in Nepal, were discussed.
According to the Finance Minister’s Secretariat, the meeting also touched upon the loss of life, property and infrastructure caused by unseasonal rains and floods and landslides in various parts of the country, including the Sudur Paschim Province.
In addition, the British envoy and Finance Minister mulled over the assistance required for the rehabilitation, compensation and construction of damaged infrastructures.
For this, Minister Sharma also drew the attention of international development partners, the secretariat said.
The meeting also discussed the need for effective policy arrangements to compensate countries like Nepal affected by climate change at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change 2021 (COP 26).
