The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has fined 14 internet service providers Rs 50,000 each for violating approved service packages, overcharging customers and failing to inform users about changes on time.
The action was taken under Section 47(1) of the Telecommunications Act, 2053, following an inspection that confirmed violations of licensing conditions.
The NTA has ordered the providers to suspend unapproved packages and tariffs and compensate customers for losses based on their claims. It has also reminded all licensed providers to obtain prior approval before introducing new service packages or tariff plans.
