NMB Bank has been nominated for the ‘The Bank of the Year Asia 2021’ award by The Banker, a renowned banking sector magazine published in London, UK.

NMB has become the best, surpassing the best banks in Asia in countries like China, India, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba handed over the award to Bank Chairman Pawan Golyan and Chief Executive Officer Sunil KC. The award was presented at the Prime Minister’s residence.

After receiving the ‘Bank of the Year Asia 2021’ award, NMB Bank has become the best bank in Asia by making history.

NMB Bank is the first bank in Nepal to receive this award. At the same time, NMB Bank became the first bank to become the best bank in Asia and also the Bank of the Year for the fourth time in five years.

The bank informed about this in a press conference on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kumar Golyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank said that this achievement was due to the hard work of the management of the bank and the trust of 1.5 million customers.

Established in 2000, the Bank of the Year Award is given separately to the best banks in each country and the best banks in six continents, including Western Europe, Middle Eastern Europe, Asia, America, the Middle East and Africa.

The award is considered a benchmark for evaluating banks around the world and recognizing them as one of the world’s leading institutions.

The award is given on the basis of various criteria such as growth and performance style of the bank, strategic initiatives of the bank, latest services and products brought using digital technology, activities for sustainable development and ability to withstand adverse conditions.

NMB won the award for its initiatives for sustainable banking, digital transformation and the bank’s commitment to high corporate practices.

It is also a member of the Bank Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials and a member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values. The bank has 201 branches across the country.
