597 towers, transmission line to be constructed for Arun-III

The electricity transmission line of the 900 megawatt Arun-III hydropower project under construction in Sankhuwasabha is going to be built in seven districts. The Arun-III project is going to build 597 towers for the transmission line in Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur, Khotang, Udayapur, Siraha, Mahottari and Dhanusha districts.

In the discussion held at the district administration office on Monday, the project representatives said that the 400 KV transmission line of the Arun-III project will be taken to Dhalkebar in Dhanush through Diding of Sankhuwasabha. The electricity transmission line project will be taken to Dhalkebar in Dhanusha via Diding of Chichila Rural Municipality.

For transmission lines, Sankhuwasabha will have 59 towers, Bhojpur 100, Khotang 79, Udayapur 147, Siraha 23, Mahottari 87 and Dhanusha will have 120 towers. It is said that the process has been initiated through the relevant district administration office to acquire land for the construction of the tower.

The transmission line starts from Diding Pukhuwa in Chichila Rural Municipality and passes through Dandagaun, Ahale, Chyangkuti, Sekaha, Manebhanyang, Upper Chewa, Khoronde, Pipley Raya of Khandbari Municipality and reaches Bhojpur, according to Sutlej Company’s office Tumlingtar.

The construction of road, dam site, power house, and tunnel for the Arun-III hydropower project being constructed by the Indian Sutlej Company is being carried out in full swing.

According to the project, the dam site work is being done in Makalu Rural Municipality-5 Faksinda of Sankhuwasabha, while the construction of the power house is underway at Pukhuwa of Power House Chichila Rural Municipality Diding. The project which is targeted to be completed in five years, will generate 9 megawatts of electricity. About 120 billion rupees has been estimated for the construction of the project.

It has been agreed that the project will provide free electricity at the rate of 30 units to the affected families. From this project, Nepal will benefit from 340 billion royalties, free electricity, income tax, VAT and customs duties in 25 years.
