NEPSE slips down 0.40 points; daily turnover drops 33 percent to Rs 4.29 billion

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday declined marginally by 0.40 points to close at 2,098.29 points.

The market opened at 2,098.69 points and reached the day’s high at 2,112.15 points in the first fifteen minutes of trading. In the next moment, the index fell sharply by 18 points and remained almost stable for around the next two hours. The market then peaked to 2,108.36 points, but declined successively to the day’s low at 2,087.98 points in the last 10 minutes. The market recovered around 10 points before it closed for the day.    

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased by 0.19 points. The daily turnover amount stood at Rs 4.29 billion, sharp fall from Rs 6.36 billion on Monday.

Six of the 13 groups added to their market indices. While hotels and tourism gained the highest of 256.83 points, life insurance lost the largest of 71.68 points.

Among individual companies, 137 were recorded as losers whereas 103 were the gainers.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited with a turnover of its shares worth Rs 550.98 million topped the segment. Mid Solu Hydropower Limited had a drop of 6.20 percent of its market and was recorded the biggest loser. Chandragiri Hills Limited witnessed the biggest rise of 10 percent of its market price.
