Imports at the Tatopani Customs checkpoint have seen a significant increase, with revenue collection reaching Rs 7.56 billion in the past five months. According to Customs Officer Surya Prasad Kafle, this marks an 80 percent rise in revenue compared to the same period last year.
Currently, 28 containers are arriving daily at the Tatopani border, with electric vehicles making up the largest portion of imports. Other notable imports include garlic, fruits, and ready-made goods. In the month of Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December), the customs office collected Rs 1.71 billion in revenue.
Imports had been disrupted for over a month in mid-September due to floods and landslides, halting trade at both the Tatopani and Rasuwa border points with China. However, daily imports of Chinese goods have now resumed through these border points, contributing to the rise in trade activity and revenue.
