The establishment of the 400/132 KV substation at Sarkeghat in Humla district represents a significant step forward for hydropower development in the region. The National Transmission Grid Company (NTGC) is actively working with the District Administration Office in Humla to secure 110 ropanis of land for this purpose.
This substation will play a critical role in integrating the 2,500 MW of electricity generated from the Humla Karnali and Mugu Karnali rivers into Nepal’s national transmission grid. According to Dr. Netra Gyawali, CEO of NTGC, the project marks a milestone for the energy and economic development of the Humla and Mugu districts.
The planned transmission line spans 220 kilometers, linking Dodhara in Kailali district to Humla via Kalikot. This infrastructure is expected to not only enhance power generation capacity but also boost regional development by connecting remote areas to the national grid.
