Kathmandu, July 23: A total of 1,011 cottage and small industries have been registered in Siraha district during the last fiscal year 2074/75 BS, according to media reports.
Among the newly registered industries, 250 industries were related to production, 554 related to services and 197 related to agriculture.
Now, there are altogether 4,769 cottage and small industries in the district. Among them 1,338 industries were related to production sector, 661 related to agriculture and forest, 2,770 related to service sector in total. A total of 842 new industries were registered in the district in the previous fiscal year.
The uptick in the registration and operation of cottage and small industries has attributed to the improvement of investment-friendly environment in the country.
Floating of loans by the banks and the financial institutions in the simplest procedure has also helped in this regard.
The amount of revenue collected from the registration of new cottage and small industries in the last fiscal year stood at Rs 5.1 million in total, according to the Office of Cottage and Small Industry.
