Imports through the Tatopani border point have surged following the Dashain festival, with more than 20 containers entering Nepal daily, according to the Tatopani Customs Office.
The customs office reported that there are currently no major road obstructions, as the landslide at Kodari has been successfully cleared. This has allowed the smooth resumption of trade, with containers primarily carrying goods such as garments and fruits entering Nepal each day.
The Tatopani border, which had remained closed for nearly two months, reopened earlier this month after Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Kulman Ghising, instructed authorities to clear the Kodari landslide.
Meanwhile, the Rasuwa border point remains closed since July 7, when floods swept away the bridge over the Lhende River. According to Rasuwa Customs Chief Tulsi Bhattarai, China has been constructing a Bailey bridge at the site, and work is expected to be completed within 8 to 10 days.
However, Bhattarai noted that the road from Syafrubesi to Rasuwagadhi has sustained significant damage, making it unlikely for the Rasuwa checkpoint to reopen before the Tihar festival.
