Capital expenditure has remained weak until the end of Falgun (March 14) in the current fiscal year.
According to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), only about 19 percent of the allocated capital budget had been spent by the second quarter.
The federal government has introduced a total budget of Rs 1.964 trillion for the current fiscal year. By Saturday, around Rs 926.58 billion had been spent, which represents 47.18 percent of the total annual budget allocation.
Under the current expenditure category, 54.37 percent of the allocated Rs 1.18 trillion has been utilized. Meanwhile, capital expenditure remains low, with only 19.24 percent of the Rs 407.88 billion allocation spent so far.
In the financial management category, Rs 205.95 billion has been spent, accounting for 54.89 percent of the Rs 375.24 billion allocated for the fiscal year.
Similarly, the government’s revenue collection by the end of Falgun has reached 49.89 percent of its annual target. The government had aimed to collect Rs 1.533 trillion in revenue during the current fiscal year, but only Rs 765.10 billion had been collected by mid-March.
