Krishnanagar, January 12 : Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister, Chakrapani Khanal has said the present government was moving ahead with sustainable plan.
He said this during a meeting with Nepal Communist Party workers at Chandrauta of Kapilbastu district on Saturday.
Minister Khanal said the government has given high priority to agriculture as a means of addressing the unemployment problem and as the backbone of the country’s economy.
He said work is being carried out on the basis of a special plan for promoting organic fertilizer to boost agricultural production and to replace chemical fertilizers.
The Agriculture Minister said an agricultural research centre is to be set up at Bijayanagar rural municipality of the district for agricultural promotion.
He added that at present Nepal imported 93 per cent of agriculture produce and the government was working in such a way that the country would be made self-sufficient in fish, chicken, wheat, fruits and other agro-produce in two years. RSS
