Rupandehi, January 29: The sale and distribution of products by the Thapa Food Processing Industries in Butwal-13 has been suspended. The District Administration Office took such move after a monitoring team on Tuesday (Jan 28) found the industry selling substandard rice in the market.
The monitoring team, led by DAO, comprised of the representatives from the commerce office, food, and quality control office, Butwal sub-metropolis, Nepali police, and media.
“The business transactions of the Thapa Food Industry were banned for certain period after its rice was found to be against the required standards,” said DAO officer Manoj Pokharel. The DAO has begun the monitoring of daily essentials in the market with the consumers increasingly complaining of the selling of plastic-made rice. According to Pokharel, his office will regularly keep tabs on the market to discourage the selling of low quality, harmful products.
