One more attraction has been added in Pokhara without being a tourist attraction as Annapurna Cablecar is ready for commercial operation in Sarangkot of Pokhara Metropolitan City as the fourth cablecar project in the country.
According to DN Kayastha, Senior Operations Officer, Annapurna Cablecar Pvt. Ltd. A total of 2.16 km long cable car can reach Sarangkot in 9 to 10 minutes from the banks of Fewatal.
“The feature of this car is that you can see the mountain scenery at once while looking at the Fewatal,” said Kayastha. From Friday, passengers will be able to travel by car only by buying tickets.
The company has stated that it has invested around Rs 2 billion in Annapurna Cablecar. Cablecar’s top station has facilities including a zipline, rock climbing, and restaurant.
Kayastha informed that there will be a restaurant facility even in the lower station. From the top station, you can see the view of Pokhara including Fewatal. From the top station, you can see the mountains in front. He said that only cablecars are expected to play a role in extending the stay of tourists visiting Pokhara for one more day.
The construction has been completed after a period of 5 years. In the meantime, the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic has affected work for some time, he said.
Annapurna Cablecar has become the fourth cablecar project in Nepal.
Manakamana Cablecar was started in Nepal two and a half decades ago. Then the second project is Chandragiri Cablecar. The third project is Kalinchok Cablecar. Annapurna Cablecar has come into operation in Sarangkot as the fourth project.
According to Kayastha, a fare of Rs. 700 for the ‘two-way’ travel. The car has a total of 17 coaches. One compartment can carry up to 8 passengers at a time. According to the company, 500 people can travel per hour.
