A team of Chinese experts has arrived in Kathmandu today to study and survey the possibility of Nepal-China international railway.
The Chinese Embassy in Nepal has informed that the first group of Chinese experts has arrived.
Acting Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy, Wang Jin, welcomed the Chinese expert team at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
“Study and survey the feasibility of the China-Nepal cross-border railway is a long-standing dream of the Nepali people and an important agreement between the top leaders of the two countries,” said a statement issued by the Chinese Embassy, “This is also an integral part of the construction of the BRI between Nepal and China.” China will actively advance the feasibility study with China’s grant, giving priority to Nepal’s aspirations and needs.
During the last visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Nepal, there was an agreement between the two countries to study the feasibility of a railway connecting Kerung in Tibet to Kathmandu with Chinese funding.
“The two countries will maintain close contact and coordination in jointly moving forward with the aim of building a multi-faceted connectivity network across the Himalayas,” said the statement released by the Second Secretary of the Chinese Embassy, Zhang Xi.
