Narayan Prasad Bhandari, Head of Customs of Rasuwa Customs Office, Timure, said that for three years only imports were being made to Nepal through the Rasuwagadhi crossing under the quota system, but now exports have also started. He said that on Tuesday, the Nepalese goods kept in six Nepali containers went to China in three Chinese containers.

He said that about 5 million worth of bamboo wraps and copper utensils were exported to China. “Materials were taken to the border through six Nepali containers, from there Nepali goods were reloaded into three Chinese containers and taken to China,” he said, rather than coordinating with us, the Chinese side is going to take them directly by contacting the traders. Not even informed.’

Similarly, he said, on Wednesday, two Nepali containers have passed the customs inspection for the export of bamboo bundles and copper utensils to China. Businessmen have said that since three years only imports have been made through Rasuwagadhi border crossing, now they expect continuous exports.

In the beginning, the Chinese side had banned food items from Nepal due to the language problem. The Chinese side had banned the taking of the materials saying that Nepali language and some materials were labeled in English language only.
At the time when the language problem was being solved, the export was stopped due to the Covid-19 that appeared in China. Since July 2019, the export of Nepalese goods to China from Rasuwagadhi border has been stopped. Food items such as flour, vegetable ghee, noodles, pasta, biscuits, juice, jam, beaten rice, brooms etc. were being exported from Nepal to China.
