Phidim, February 22: The construction of the Ranke-Rabi-Bhedetar road section has gained speed after its onsite inspection carried out recently by Minister Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Kumar Nemwang Minister.
The construction works of this road section had begun in December 2018, but not even five percent of such works were carried out in the past year. However, the recent onsite inspection by Minister Nembang is changing the situation for better.
The India-based contractor, Apco Infratech Pvt Ltd, has added equipment and personnel to speed up the construction process.
” The 101-kilometer road does not require lengthy processes like bridge building and breaking of large rocks. So, it can be completed on time if the efforts are continuously made in this regard,” said Falgunanda rural municipality Chair Bir Bahadur Kurumba.
This road section connects Paanchthar, Ilam and Dhankuta districts. Residents of Morang, Taplejung, and Terhathum districts stand to benefit directly from it.
As per the contract, it has to be completed by 2021. The estimated cost for the road is Rs. 3.65 billion, of which 87 percent will be borne by the Exim Bank of India and the remaining portion by the government of Nepal.
