Kathmandu, August 27 : The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has formed a high-level committee to study the impacts of the COVID-19 on the country’s media sector. It was formed on Thursday (August 26)under the coordination of Chairman of Minimum Wage Fixing Committee, Rajendra Aryal.
The members of the high- level committee are Chief of Central Department of Journalism, TU, Chiranjivi Khanal; Director General at Department of Information and Broadcasting, Kiran Raj Sharma; Chairman of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Govinda Acharya; Chairman of Media Society, Shuva Shankar Kandel; Chairman of Nepal Advertisement Association, Rabindra Kumar Rijal; Chairman of Broadcasting Association of Nepal, Chandra Neupane; Chairman of Community Radio Broadcasters Association, Subash Khatiwada; and Sangita Ojha.
The high- level panel, among others, will assess the problems like non-payment, low payment and retrenchment being faced by working journalists being faced by them due to the pandemic.
Coordinator Aryal said that it will take a month to complete the study and submit the final report. RSS
