Daily turnover at stock market soars to Rs 9.76 billion

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday declined 12.10 points to close at 2,163.06 points.

The market opened at 2,175.17 points and escalated to the day’s high at 2,215.55 points in the mid hours of the trading period. In the next moment, the index successively declined and lost around 52 points before the market closed for the day.

According to stockbrokers, the market went into a correction in the intraday trading after investors rushed to book capital gains out of the earnings in the past two days. The market surged more than 85 points in total on Sunday and Tuesday.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased 1.11 points. The daily turnover amount inclined to further to Rs 9.768 billion from Rs 8.023 billion on Tuesday.

Four out of 13 trading groups had their market value increased. ‘Others’ index increased 32.63 points. Of the losers, life insurance and manufacturing and processing lost the highest of 132.96 points and 120.50 points, respectively.  

Among individual companies, 180 were recorded as losers whereas 63 were the gainers.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had turnover of its shares worth Rs 658.49 million. Eastern Hydropower Limited was the highest loser. Out of 63 gainers, Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd had the biggest rise of 10 percent of its market price.
