Eight national-level development banks in Nepal recorded a combined net profit of Rs 1.67 billion in the first quarter of FY 2026/27, up 113.23 percent from Rs 783.45 million in the same period last year. The growth was mainly attributed to a decline in loan-loss provisioning.
Lumbini Development Bank posted the highest profit of Rs 327.15 million, recovering from a loss of Rs 348.58 million a year earlier. Muktinath Development Bank followed with Rs 322.42 million, up 43.44 percent. Garima, Kamana Sewa and Jyoti Development Banks earned Rs 240.12 million, Rs 231.16 million and Rs 200.16 million, respectively.
Overall, profits increased at five banks while three recorded declines.
