The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has assured consumers of an uninterrupted electricity supply during Tihar, particularly on Laxmi Puja, when power demand is expected to exceed last year’s peak of 1,650 MW.
Despite 431 MW of generation capacity being disrupted by the August 26 floods, the NEA says an additional 529 MW has been connected to the national grid over the past year. It will also operate all three Kulekhani hydropower plants, with a combined capacity of 106 MW, at full capacity.
The authority has strengthened transformer capacity, feeder management and system monitoring to prevent localized outages during the festival.
