Currently, the 400 KV capacity Dhalkebar substation has come into operation in the country. The country’s second-largest substation is scheduled to be inaugurated this Saturday. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has informed that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate the substation on Saturday.

NEA has named the substation New Khimti. The substation constructed at Devitar in Manthali Municipality-13 of Ramechhap has connected the double circuit 220 KV transmission line from Gongar of Dolakha to Dhalkebar. Kathmandu is connected through 132 KV capacity through the same substation. A 100 MVA transformer is connected to the substation. Electricity is flowing from the substation to Dhalkebar of Dhanusha.

According to NEA, this is the second-largest substation after Dhalkebar. According to NEA, three substations of 132, 220, and 400 KV capacity are in operation in Dhalkebar. According to Pradip Dahal, Electrical Engineer, New Khimti Substation, preparations have been completed for the inauguration program to be held by the Prime Minister on Saturday. The construction of the substation, which started in 2075 BS, was completed last June. After the initial cost was Rs 1.5 billion, there has been some variation due to natural calamities, corona, and other causes.

The electricity of the 456 MW Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project has been connected to the Nayakhimti substation. Similarly, electricity generated from 52 & amp; 4 MW capacity Likhu II and 24.1 MW capacity Likhu A hydropower project is connected.

Similarly, the electricity of Gorjyang Hydropower, Khimti-2 will also be connected to the same substation. According to the current capacity, a total of 900 MW of electricity can be connected to the substation, said Foreman Civil Bishwas Kumar Bhandari.

The project will be developed as a hub substation in the language of the substation authority as electricity will be connected to the completed and ready projects in Ramechhap, Dolakha and other districts. The substation was charged in the last week of July.

The NEA is confident that the operation of the substation, which is considered important for providing electricity to Upper Tamakoshi as a project of national pride, will facilitate the flow of electricity. About one billion units of electricity from Upper Tamakoshi has already flowed through this substation. Four power transformers are connected in the substation. Three of the connected transformers will be brought into regular operation and one will be in reserve.

According to the staff of the New Khimti substation, the project was completed after the regular monitoring of NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising.

“I am just happy to be back. On top of that, we are still proud of the work we have done as the Prime Minister is about to inaugurate it, ”said Dahal, an electrical engineer.

Civil Foreman Bhandari also said that all the employees of NEA felt proud when the project was completed after a long hard work. Just a few days ago, Minister for Energy Pampha Bhusal inaugurated the completed 122/33 KV substation at Lalbandi in Sarlahi.

Similarly, New Butwal-Bardaghat 220/132 KV substation was inaugurated today. According to the Ministry of Energy, the current government has paid special attention to the development of the energy sector.
