September 22: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Lal Babu Pandit, has pointed out the need for a one-door policy for the capacity building of government employees so that it would bring uniformity. Addressing a program organized to mark the 26th anniversary of the Local Development Training Foundation in Lalitpur yesterday, Minister Pandit argued that the one door system would help wipe out duplicity.

So, the Ministry was mulling the capacity building training to the staffs ranging from kharidar to Joint Secretary via one door system. “Only passing the public service exam does not make employees capable, so the training providers have the role to capacitate them,” he stressed. He, however, maintained that the federal government would not interfere with the activities of the local levels. The local levels must ensure government’s presence to the people.

The Minister lauded the role the Foundation has played for the capacity building of the people’s representatives and government employees. He suggested the Foundation be more professional as per the changed context. On the occasion, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr Pushpa Kandel, viewed that the Commission was always ready to work together with the Foundation for the collaboration. Executive Director at the Foundation, Pit Kumar Shrestha, said the training would be amended as per the need.

The employees would be made aware of the issues relating to national importance and make them committed to the country and people. Training and research officer at the Foundation, Dipak Thapa, informed that in the last fiscal year, nearly 8,000 government employees were provided training. RSS
