Kathmandu, February 5: A delegation of Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) submitted a memorandum to Chairperson of the Development and Technology Committee, Kalyani Khadka, demanding for amending the acts and regulations creating problems in the infrastructure development sector.
Briefing the chairperson and members of the committee about the problems surfaced in the development of physical infrastructures like including roads, the delegation suggested the committee to amend the provisions of confiscating collateral, keeping in a blacklist from one to three years and canceling contract.
On the occasion, the Chairperson and members of the committee suggested the contractors to help implement the punishment rule in the infrastructure construction sector. According to the committee, such a rule is important to discourage malpractices like taking as long as 15 years to construct just a 150-meter long bridge.
It also asked the contractors to complete the project within the deadline. Stressing on the need of making development construction activities transparent, the committee members suggested the FCAN to help the government to displace entrepreneurs doing wrong activities from their profession. RSS
