The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has called on the government to take immediate action against those involved in looting, vandalism, and arson targeting industries, businesses, and private properties during the recent Gen Z movement, while also ensuring overall security for the private sector.

Expressing concern over the government’s refusal to register written complaints against individuals accused in these incidents, the FNCCI warned that such inaction could encourage a culture of impunity and demoralize businesspersons.

“Such incidents have not only weakened the morale of the private sector but have also created negative impacts on economic activities,” the FNCCI said in its statement.

The organization cautioned that the current situation could have long-term consequences for employment generation, revenue collection, investment promotion, and the national economy.

To strengthen private sector security, the FNCCI has proposed collaborating with district and municipal chambers of commerce to participate in central and district-level security committees. The goal, it said, is to ensure direct involvement of business representatives in security planning, risk assessment, and emergency decision-making processes.

The private sector emphasized that peace and security are fundamental to maintaining business confidence and a conducive investment environment. The FNCCI concluded that restoring stability and uplifting the morale of industrialists must be among the government’s top priorities.
