The price of gold in Nepal has surged past Rs 250,000 per tola for the first time.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Associations, the price of gold increased by Rs 2,000 per tola today, reaching Rs 250,900 per tola — the highest rate ever recorded in the country.
Gold prices have been continuously rising over the past few days. On Tuesday, the price had jumped by Rs 8,100 per tola, followed by an additional Rs 400 increase on Wednesday, bringing it to Rs 248,900 per tola.
Earlier, on Monday, the price had gone up by Rs 3,000 per tola, while on Sunday, it had increased by Rs 2,400 per tola.
Previously, on Mangsir 10 (late November), the price of gold had dropped sharply by Rs 15,900 per tola in a single day after the government reduced customs duty. However, prices have since rebounded and climbed to record levels once again.
Meanwhile, the price of silver has declined today. Silver fell by Rs 65 per tola to Rs 3,275, compared to Rs 3,340 per tola on the previous day.
