Gold prices surged sharply in 2025, rising by around 55 percent within a year, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA).
At the beginning of 2025, gold was traded at Rs 151,000 per tola in the domestic market, while the international price stood at USD 2,607.08 per ounce. By December 31, 2025, the price of gold in Nepal had soared to Rs 261,000 per tola, with the global price climbing to USD 4,334.88 per ounce.
Over the one-year period, gold prices in Nepal increased by Rs 110,000 per tola, while the international market witnessed a rise of USD 1,727 per ounce.
According to international media reports, the sharp rise in gold prices was driven by increased gold accumulation by several countries amid heightened geopolitical tensions and growing economic uncertainty worldwide.
