The government has officially approved a revised salary structure for civil servants, implementing the pay raise and incentive package announced in the budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026/27.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers endorsed the new salary scale after the Ministry of Finance finalized the proposal and submitted it to the Cabinet on July 22. The revised structure has now been cleared for implementation across government agencies.
Under the new pay scale, the Chief Secretary will receive a monthly salary of Rs. 90,594, while the Chief of Army Staff will receive an identical salary. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) will earn Rs. 84,576 per month. At the lower end of the scale, a first-class Office Assistant will receive a monthly salary of Rs. 28,984.
The revised structure reflects the government’s decision to provide a 10 percent salary increase to civil servants, along with an additional 10 percent incentive allowance, as announced in the current fiscal year’s budget.
Retired government employees will also benefit from the revised package, although they will receive only a 10 percent increase in pension. Unlike serving civil servants, pensioners will not be eligible for the additional incentive allowance.
The government says the revised pay structure aims to improve employee motivation, strengthen public service delivery and help offset the rising cost of living while maintaining fiscal discipline.
