Nepali migrant workers can now again fly to Malaysia as the government has decided to resume the process of issuing them labour permit for the same destination.
On May 16, 2018, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security banned Nepali labourers from going to Malaysia on the grounds of four outsourcing agencies hired by the Malaysian government including VLN overcharging Nepali migrant workers.
The government decided to resume providing labor permit for Malaysia after a hiatus of nine months following the commitment from the Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies and the Malaysian embassy in Kathmandu to resume the long stalled employment process for those migrant workers who have already received calling visa.
It is learnt that as many as 7,000 aspiring migrant workers were barred from going to Malaysia even though they fulfilled the process to obtain visa.
